Jackie O’s / Saturday, Oct. 3rd 2015

If you’re looking to de-stress from mid-terms over this long weekend while supporting some local Ohio bands, head over to Jackie O’s for a good time and some good music. Jackie O’s will be host to Columbus country rock sandwiched between two Athens-formed rock and country outfits.

MobileHome, consisting of Jess Kaufman, Kyle Martin, and Aaron Butler previously of the Athens country-folk band, Duke Junior and The Smokey Boots kick the show off. They're followed by Gallon House Congregation, a country rock band hailing from Columbus. The Summoners end the night with a bang of Athens rock 'n' roll.

The night will be a sort of homecoming for MobileHome. Fans of Duke Junior and The Smokey Boots are excited to see what Jess, Kyle and Aaron bring to the show. Jess’ mellow and raspy voice accompanied by Kyle and Aaron rocking it on the instrumental side will bring a nice tone to start off the night with a nice folksy vibe.

This will be Gallon House Congregation’s first show in Athens and they’re excited to accompany the two local groups. Having recently finished recording their first album they have more time to get their music out there and play more shows.

Their album comes out October 23rd with “influences ranging from the Bakersfield and Outlaw Country of the ‘60s and ‘70s to psych rock to heavy metal to you name it.” The show on Saturday will feature most of the new record as well as “Two Tavern Town” according to band-member Dan Myers. The song will be released as a single on October 9th.

Jackie O’s veterans The Summoners released their debut EP in April and they’ve been working on writing and recording more music to work towards a full-length album. Otherwise they’ve been keeping busy playing shows like the Pawpaw Festival, Boogie on the Bricks, Athens Music Fest and other local shows.

The band brings high energy and fun to the stage. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take the music seriously,” says Bryan Gibson, the band’s drummer. It’s been a bit since the band’s played Jackie O’s and will most likely be the only time they play this month, so if you’re looking to catch them you’d better come out Saturday night. Gibson also noted that the band is quickly selling out of their album, so if you’re looking to grab it you can speak to them at the show.
