Casa Nueva / Friday, September 25, 2015 This Friday, Casa Nueva will host two great talents: the rock ‘n' soul of C2 & the Brothers Reed, as well as the reggae funk of Waivada. These two very different bands have one thing in common and that is making good music and putting on a lively show.

C2 & the Brothers Reed is comprised of vocalist/bass player Cameron Clark, guitarist Kelly Reed, drummer Kody Reed and keyboardist James Weishar.

The band hails from Lexington, Kentucky where they formed through mutual friends while attending the University of Kentucky. Once formed, they spent their college days playing around UK’s local venues. “We began playing in bars and small venues mainly in the Kentucky area,” Clark told ACRN. “Then after graduation we decided to make this our full-time job and started touring extensively.”

The band took off after graduation, as they have expanded their range from Kentucky’s bars to hard-ticket venues in the south and east coast. “We are constantly in new cities, meeting new people and having new experiences,” said Clark. “Life on the road isn't always easy or comfortable but we all love it and can see the bigger picture.”

C2 takes their music seriously, and aims to help people “find an escape in the short amount of time they spend with us, whether it's hearing our music or coming to shows,” according to Clark, and there’s no better escape than this type of rock ‘n roll. The old school guitar shredding is reminiscent of classic rock acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. “A simple explanation of our sound would be rock and soul. We’re all influenced by different artists which we like to incorporate into one idea, which varies from jazz to Motown to classic rock ‘n' roll,” said Clark.

Two albums have been released by C2 & the Brothers Reed, Hot Mess and Weigh Station Tour: Exit A. The band plans on continuing their tours as well as creating and releasing new music.

The other act is something a little more outlandish for anyone looking for something new and eccentric. Waivada, home to Athens and signed to Brick City Records, is a grunge funk reggae band. They’ve played around Athens before and are capable of mixing just about any genre of music into one experimental, awesome song.

Two great bands sure to put on a lively show. Go to Casa Nueva this Friday night, September 25, to enjoy a great night of the different music Athens and elsewhere have to offer!
