Jackie O’s / Friday, Feb. 6, 2014

On Friday, Jackie O's will be packed with some of the most eclectic groups you could ask for playing a variety of different styles. Uptowne Buddha and Bright At Night will be rocking out in a bevy of ways. ACRN talked to Uptowne Buddha to get the band's reaction on this undoubtedly fun night.

About playing in Athens, they said, “Oh yeah. We've played in Athens more times than I can count on a couple of hands. We're super pumped about it! We love playing with Bright at Night. It always feels like a family affair playing with those guys--very fitting for a sibs weekend show--as we go way back with all the members and have worked with them a lot. The music between the two bands is varied, yet very compatible.”

They also talk about their special guest for the night, “Also, for this show we'll have Daniel Hawkins sitting in on guitar as Sam Terkel will be on the road this weekend playing with Broccoli Samurai.Daniel has played with us once before and has been sounding great with the music. He brings more elements of rock & roll to the table and seriously shreds. It'll be a unique and exciting Buddha experience!”

Uptowne Buddha is no stranger to being a crafty projection of their influences. Describing them, they said, “Each member comes from a very different background and brings their own set of styles and influences to the music. Uptowne Buddha is a big hip-hop melting pot that consists of neo-soul, hip-hop, jam, rock & roll, salt, pepper, sri racha and delicious ripe tomatoes. It's a party.” So, if anyone's thinking this show will be vanilla or tedious, there's no chance of that happening, at least not on Uptowne Buddha's watch.

They've also been working on new music, explaining that, “It's looking good and sounding even better! We're 70% of the way done with production and can expect it to drop sometime in the spring. It sounds so good. We're so excited to share it with everyone!” In typical Uptowne Buddha fashion, their enthusiasm for what kind creativity they're sharing knows no bounds.

According to them, “We're hoping for a good turnout and a great time. Sibs weekend has been very good to us in past years and we're not expecting anything less. Athens is always so much fun, especially on big weekends when a lot of friends and family come to visit.” So if you're looking for a great time with your siblings, come down to Jackie O's for Uptowne Buddha and Bright At Night for some family fun.
