According to Billboard, Neil Young has declared that he intends to boycott the famed coffee chain, Starbucks. The renowned singer-songwriter urges fans to stand with him and do the same.
Young has always been a motivator and champion of political and social change through his art and also his actions. Young wrote and posted a letter on his official website discussing his reasoning behind the boycott, “Starbucks has teamed up with Monsanto to sue Vermont, and stop accurate food labeling.” Young continued, “We have a right to know what we put in our mouths.” Starbucks has backed Monsanto’s attempt to prevent the law from requiring food labels to include whether or not the product includes GMOs. Many states have claimed that they also want to enact these laws, as Young reasons, “In order to encourage this, we need to ensure that Vermont's law stands strong.”
Young urges everyone to call attention to the issue to force Starbucks to withdraw from backing Monsanto.
