News: The Red Hot Boys are Back

It’s time to get out the tube socks and cover up the boys--the Red Hot Chili Peppers are soon heading to the studio and rocking out. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, wild child bassist Flea spoke of a new album optimistically released in less than 12 months.
It’s been nearly three years since those funky monks released anything; some fans feared for the band’s continuation when guitarist Josh Klinghoffer replaced John Frusciante on 2011’s I’m With You. According to Flea, RHCP have fully digested Klinghoffer as part of the creative process and are ready to release something new.
For a band with such a fluctuating history, to survive--and thrive--in the music industry for over 30 years is remarkable. Although I’m With You didn’t enjoy the same success as albums like By the Way or 2005’s massive double-album Stadium Arcadium, Klinghoffer seems to be down for another ride with the Chili Peppers.
Frusciante seems to have truly moved on, but it’s not exactly easy to predict what that man will do in the future. Despite Frusciante being an enormous part of the band’s creative process, Flea stated the group has written large amounts of new material to sift through and select for a final cut.
“It’s cool. It’s super danceable, funky shit and some real introspective, pretty stuff. It feels good, man, and it’s fun to play,” said Flea. The bassist went on to say the band is planning on recording within months and hopes to be touring within a year.
