News: Ke$ha Suing Producer Over Sexual, Verbal and Emotional Abuse

By Kenyetta Whitfield, Contributor

On October 14, pop singer Ke$ha filed a lawsuit against her producer of 10 years, Dr. Luke. According to the suit, Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) began making sexual advances toward the pop star when she first signed with him at the age of 18. The suit also states that over the years, Gottwald has drugged, assaulted and verbally abused the singer.

The lawsuit details multiple incidents over the years where Gottwald drugged the pop star as well as made abusive comments about her appearance and engaged in nonconsensual sex with the singer.

Ke$ha is asking that the judge release her from her contract with Gottwald.

"This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Ke$ha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom,” Mark Geragos, the singer’s attorney told the Rolling Stone.

On the same day that the lawsuit was filed, Gottwald filed a suit against the singer claiming defamation and breach of contract.

Gottwald and Ke$ha have been battling for months over the singer's career, and in January the singer’s mom Pebe Sebert accused Dr. Luke as the cause of her daughter’s eating disorder which landed her in rehab last year.
