News: Seaway Sets Date for Pure Noise Debut

By Marc Blanc, Contributor

Seaway is about to expand its arena. Yesterday, Ontario’s rocketing pop-punk quintet announced their first release through the juggernaut Pure Noise Records: an EP entitled All In My Head, to be released November 4 on 7" vinyl. Except for the cover, no other details have been released.

Forming in 2011, Seaway’s rise has been marked by a few North American tours, some music videos earning six-digit views and a Victory Records-pushed LP. Having played small bars like Kent, Ohio’s Euro Gyro only a year ago, the magnitude and rapidity of the group’s success is rarely paralleled in pop-punk. Pure Noise scooped Seaway in July, placing the band in a league with pantheons The Story So Far.

Mutant League Records, which released Seaway’s full length, Hoser, had a deal with Victory Records last year, so the band was able to move vinyl through Victory. Although circumstances are not identical, such big label buzz over an underground pop-punk group brings to mind the early days of Fall Out Boy, when Take This to Your Grave was released on Fueled by Ramen after a bidding war between labels.

Seaway will support Bayside and I Am the Avalanche on an October tour before setting off with Four Year Strong, Transit and Such Gold through November. Closest stops to Athens on both tours are at Skully’s in Columbus.
