News: Spotify Distributes Report Cards
By Sarah Weingarten, Contributor
Spotify recently released some very interesting statistics pertaining to its university student listeners. The statistics show the top 40 musical universities in America based on plays by student subscribers. Unfortunately, Ohio University didn’t make it in the top 40, but Miami University and Ohio State University were both ranked respectively.
Pitchfork broke down the stats into some very interesting categories. For example, Auburn University was ranked the top school for Nickelback playlists and Juggalo playlists. Wow, what an accomplishment. Auburn has really outdone itself.
But, it wouldn’t be a Pitchfork article if there wasn’t a fair amount of shade thrown, and the victims of some questionable music journalism are Alabama University, Florida State University and University of Southern California. Apparently listening to a lot of Kings of Leon, hating Lorde and liking Lana Del Rey is considered having poor musical taste.
Not shockingly, Kanye is one of the top favorites amongst college students. But more shocking than Auburn loving Nickelback and Juggalo playlists (seriously Auburn, get it together) is that The University of Colorado is the only school to have Beyoncé on their “distinctive un-favorite” list.
